Each 500 sq yard plot was originally supposed to have a single residential unit on each floor, but it has more than 16 unauthorised flats. District town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav has written to the MCG commissioner, GMDA executive engineer and DHBVN requesting them to disconnect the connection. The tehsildar has also been directed to stop any further registration of these properties.
“All three departments have been directed to take immediate action and our enforcement office is actively working on the necessary measures,” Yadav said.
The matter is currently pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court following a petition by the Palam Vihar C2 Block RWA and other locals. Residents also protested on the streets over the issue, following which a petition was filed in the High Court.
The DTCP has named specific plots – 913, 1310, 921, 1251, 924, 979B, 956, 1226, 922, 935 and 951 – in letters to the concerned authorities. It has also filed police complaints against several similar building owners. Illegal construction Some building owners had allegedly illegally removed the seal from their properties, following which the department took further sealing action and recommended additional FIRs.
Residents have expressed concern about the impact of these illegal constructions on the infrastructure in the area. Where only one unit per floor is permitted, property owners have constructed four to six units per floor. They said these properties were registered and water and electricity connections were issued in alleged connivance with tehsil officials.
