Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai along with his cabinet members attended the ‘More Housing-More Rights’ program organized in Raipur on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in this program virtually. While transferring the first installment, Modi said that the goal of his government has always been to bring happiness and ease in the lives of the poor and weaker sections of the society.
Modi said, “In the last ten years, significant success has been achieved in fulfilling this objective.”
During the event, over 23,000 urban families were handed over keys to newly constructed houses, construction completion certificates, decorative doors and religious materials.
Chief Minister Sai emphasized that food, clothing and shelter are the most basic needs of a person, but even decades after independence, a large number of citizens across the country do not have their own house. “Of the 32 lakh houses sanctioned across the country, about 30% have been allotted to Chhattisgarh – a significant achievement for the state. After assuming power, our government gave priority to sanctioning 18 lakh PMAY houses. Today, PM Modi has transferred the first instalment to the accounts of 5.11 lakh beneficiaries of Chhattisgarh,” Sai said.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working dedicatedly for the implementation of this scheme and any kind of negligence or irregularity in its implementation will not be tolerated. He warned that if any complaint of irregularity of even a single rupee is found in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, direct action will be taken against the concerned District Collector.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said, “Today is a historic day for Chhattisgarh, which has brought a new ray of hope in the lives of the homeless people of the state. What was promised has been fulfilled. This is an important step towards social justice and equality. In the last ten years, the central government has constructed 4 crore houses, which has brought about a vast change in the lives of the poor. Three crore new houses have been approved in the third term of the Prime Minister, which has further strengthened this scheme.”
