Panaji, Goa Police launched a tenant verification to penetrate North Goa On Saturday, the credentials of at least 40,000 tenants and domestic helpers living in the district so far were being verified.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Answer GoaAkshat Kaushal said the campaign was launched in all police stations of North Goa and special camps were set up in major market areas.
“The aim of these verification camps is to ensure that there is 100% police verification of tenants, laborers and domestic servants,” he said.
Kaushal said close coordination has been maintained with market welfare associations to enhance public and police cooperation in all high traffic areas of North Goa. “Each week new areas will be defined for greater public-police cooperation. In 2024, till September 28, 27.7k tenants and 11,068 domestic helps have been verified,” Kaushal said.
The verification process included checking whether the landlord had proper police verification, ensuring that the premises they rented out were not used for illegal activities, and checking the tenants for anti-social elements. Involved a random background review.
