Bengaluru residents demand safer walkways amid protests against shrinking footpaths

Bengaluru: many Residents Of Parkwest Apartment In BinnypetWest Bengaluru protested on Friday demanding proper footpaths and roads inside the campus.

The residential complex has around 1,500 flats which currently houses around 5,000 residents.

The protest, which started at 10 am and ended at 11.30 pm, had more than 250 residents roaming around the complex holding placards.

Venkatesh Gilda, former president of the residents’ association of the apartment, said, “Now, a new ramp is being built on the already shrunken footpath. The width of the footpath has been reduced from 15 to 8 meters in violation of BBMP guidelines. 8 Within metres, they have come up with guest parking, the footpath has been widened and is used by residents of all age groups, in addition, there is a large drainage, There are sharp cedar turns, resulting in a higher probability of accidents.”
