Wave City, part of the high-tech integrated township policy, was facing difficulties due to various reasons since 2021. On August 5 this year, the GDA board approved the revised detailed project report of the township. This has raised the hopes of about 12,000 allottees who have invested in the project.
He said, “Despite buying land, people are not able to construct houses on their plots. Farmers have been protesting against the developer since August as they accused the developer of going back on its promise to give them developed land in 2014. Farmers protested against Wave Group on August 21 and then again on September 18, when the CM was in town.
“The farmers from the 18 villages whose land was acquired were supposed to get developed land. The landless farmers who worked on the acquired land were supposed to be given 70 sq m plots for housing units under the township’s LIG scheme,” said farmer Lokesh Nagar.
Meanwhile, a Wave Group spokesperson claimed that the developer had offered developed plots to some farmers. “As per the agreement, the developed plots could not be sold for 5 years, but many people sold them. Also, farmers were supposed to pay up to 8% for the land at the rate of Rs 7 lakh per bigha to Rs 22 lakh per bigha, which they did not do. This is a violation of the agreement.”
A GDA official told The Times of India that efforts were underway to bring the two groups to the negotiating table.
