Strike still continues to cancel construction permit of Bhutanese project in Sankole

Opposition Panch members of Sankole village have demanded cancellation of the project alleging that the project has failed to comply with 35 observations in the technical clearance, NOC and permissions issued by the proponent. Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA).

Opposition Panch member Maurelio Carvalho said, “The project proponent has misrepresented the project. They do not have any permission from the concerned authorities or departments required for technical clearance from MPDA. Sankole Panchayat has requested for the necessary NOC in its show cause notice, but the project proponent failed to clarify whether they had the required documents.

The ruling party’s five members have decided to opt for legal opinion without canceling the construction license despite failure to submit information on NOC by the project proponent.

The protesters have appealed to the ruling Panch members to join their agitation against the Bhutanese project. “Sankole Panch members should unite in the interest of their village and reject the construction license issued for Bhutani’s project. We need the support of six members to create a quorum to cancel the project, Carvalho said.
