MP Jagadish Shettar, during his tenure as MLA Hubballi, Dharwad The Central Constituency had assured the residents that they would be provided houses at other places if they vacated their houses to ensure the development of the road.
Subsequently, the project to construct houses for the beneficiaries at a cost of approximately Rs 14 crore was approved. Hubli-Dharwad Smart City Project ,HDSCL) built houses in Hosur First Cross and named it ‘Vanivilas Vasathi Sankirana’.
The work on the houses was completed in 2022, but they have not been allotted to the beneficiaries yet.
Hanumant Beligatti, a beneficiary, told TOI that his elders have been living here for 50 to 60 years. “We are ready to move in new houses to ensure road development, but the houses have still not been allotted,” he said. He said that due to lack of space in existing houses, they are deprived of toilets and bathrooms. “We were using nearby public toilets, but they were closed due to lack of maintenance. The authorities should take steps to allot houses soon,” he demanded.
Former corporator Shivanna Hirekerur said that the main road residents of Veeramaruti Nagar are facing many problems. He said, “The elected representatives had assured to provide houses to the beneficiaries, but they have not been allotted yet. We have brought this issue to the notice of MLA Mahesh Tenginakai and he has assured to allot the houses soon “
HDMC executive engineer Vijay Kumar said that some beneficiaries are fighting among themselves for houses. “The corporation conducted a survey and identified 65 beneficiaries. And a decision was taken to allot the houses within 20 days.
We are planning to demolish the houses and hand them over to the beneficiaries in a single day. The process is going on. He assured, the houses will be allotted soon.
