PM virtually releases acceptance letters to 32,000 PMAY-Gramin beneficiaries


Ranchi Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Sunday, acceptance letters were distributed to 32,000 beneficiaries through virtual medium Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural (PMAY-G) and released the first installment of Rs 32 crore for the construction of houses. He also handed over the keys virtually to 46,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries across the country.

The Centre has approved 1,13,400 houses for the poor in Jharkhand under the PMAY-G scheme.

Addressing the beneficiaries virtually from Ranchi, Modi said the first instalment of PMAY-G has been released and thousands of houses have also been handed over under the scheme.

“The Prime Minister underlined that the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) being launched today will ensure pucca houses to thousands of beneficiaries. Other amenities such as toilets, drinking water, electricity, gas connections etc are also provided under PMAY-G,” the statement said.

The Prime Minister said that when a “family gets its own home, its confidence increases.”

He said that through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, along with pucca houses in villages and cities, thousands of jobs are also being created for the people of Jharkhand.

Modi also said that the PM-Janman Yojana is being run for the tribal brothers and sisters of Jharkhand and other parts of the country.

He said, “Through the scheme, efforts are being made to reach out to those tribes who are still backward. Officials are reaching out to such families to provide them with houses, roads, electricity and education. Such efforts are part of my commitment towards ‘Developed Jharkhand’. We will fulfil the dreams of Jharkhand.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that since 2014, many important steps have been taken to empower the poor, Dalit, deprived and tribal families of the country.

He said that PM-Janman Yojana is being run for the tribal community in the entire country including Jharkhand.

Modi also apologised to the people of Jharkhand as he could not be present at the venue due to bad weather, which hampered the movement of his helicopter and he had to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of the projects through video conferencing.

The prime minister is on a three-day visit to Jharkhand, Gujarat and Odisha from Sunday, where he is scheduled to lay the foundation stone and launch projects worth over Rs 12,460 crore.
