Verma said owners who do not follow the rules will first be issued notices and then fined up to Rs 10,000. After the 30 day grace period, lift services will be suspended until the fine is paid and the registration process is completed.
However, RWA and AOA members told TOI that the administration had not specified the last date for registration earlier. This, he said, created confusion as most of the residential societies were waiting to be informed by the administration to start the registration. “The AOA was not effectively informed that the registration has started and how and where to register the lifts. Therefore, some representatives sought to meet the DM and ADM (Finance) on Thursday to get clarity on the matter. “During the meeting, we were informed that the registration is to be done at the ADM (Finance) office and detailed instructions will be shared shortly,” said Rajeev Singh, president of Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Association (NOFAA).
Additional DM (Finance and Revenue) Atul Kumar said a meeting will now be called next week with all stakeholders – AOAs, RWAs and lift companies – where details specifying the date of registration will be given.
AOA representatives have also raised concerns over the maintenance charges charged by lift manufacturers and this is also likely to be discussed in the upcoming meeting.
Earlier, TOI had reported that residents had raised questions about a provision in the UP Lift and Escalator Act that obliges only lift manufacturers to maintain and repair the machines, saying it would lead to monopoly and runaway rates. will lead to.
