Belagavi: The land owners who provided their land Belagavi Urban Development Authority ,Buda) It has been decided to start an indefinite strike in front of the Buda office from Friday to develop the housing project scheme number 61 in Kanabaragi.
Their demand is that the foundation stone of this project should be laid during the upcoming winter session. The land owners submitted a memorandum to Urban Development Minister Birthi Suresh through the Deputy Commissioner (DC).
This issue is expected to come up during the winter session. For several years, farmers have been appealing to the concerned ministers during the winter session in Belagavi, but to no avail.
This time they have resolved to attract the attention of the government through a long strike. Buda acquired the farmers’ land in 2007, but work on the project could not begin due to legal and technical hurdles.
Over the past 18 years, Buda has not developed a single residential layout, causing skyrocketing real estate prices in and around the city. Since the acquisition, the landowners have not earned any income from their land. Buda had agreed to share the developed land with farmers on a 50:50 basis. Frustrated with the wait of 17 years, the farmers have decided to go on strike.
