Gurugram: Haryana There is a backlog of 2,100 applications and 122 conveyance deeds have not yet been granted, despite full payment being made by the applicants under the Act. Chief Minister Urban Body Ownership Scheme,

Government data shows that 102 applications out of 705 submitted till August 31 this year are pending in the city.

An MCG official said, “We have 102 applications pending in Gurgaon and we are working expeditiously to clear the backlog. Of the 705 applications we received, 418 were approved and 185 were rejected. The application portal is no longer accepting new applications.” Said on Monday.

Launched in June 2021, the state scheme grants ownership rights to individuals who have rented or leased commercial property from municipalities for more than two decades. One can acquire ownership of the property by paying up to 80% of the collector rate. Conveyance Deed is the official document that transfers ownership of the property from one party to another.

The problem of pending applications was raised with the Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini At a review meeting in Chandigarh On 24th October.

The CM directed the officials to implement the conveyance deed under the scheme through elected representatives. Angered by the time taken to dispose of applications, CM Saini on November 9 punished the joint commissioners of Gurgaon and Ambala and an executive officer of Nuh Corporation by ordering deduction of their 15 days’ salary. Following this, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) department commissioner and secretary Vikas Gupta directed officials to execute conveyance deeds for the pending cases under the scheme by November 12.

Persons who apply for the scheme can obtain ownership rights on payment of the collector rate and the period for which the land was taken on rent by them.

The payment amount reduces in a systematic manner depending on the time for which the property is rented. For example, those who have rented a property for 25 years will have to pay 75% of the collector rate for ownership, and those who have rented for 30 years will have to pay 70%.

In April last year, the Vigilance Department, in an investigation, found that the MCG Zonal Taxation Officer (ZTO) allegedly misused his official position to transfer the ownership of a shop in the name of his son through an ownership scheme.
