Kolkata: Accused the Center of not sending the housing scheme amount to the state for the last three years. west bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee On Tuesday launched ‘Banglar Bari’, a scheme entirely funded by his government. He said a survey conducted by the state for the ‘Banglar Bari’ scheme identified more than 28 lakh genuine beneficiaries for which a total of Rs 1.2 lakh would be transferred to them by next December.
During the day, an amount of Rs 60,000 was transferred in the first installment to the bank accounts of 12 lakh beneficiaries, the Chief Minister said.
“My life is dedicated to working for the people. Today, in the interest of the people of rural Bengal, I launched the ‘Banglar Bari’ project. The first installment of Rs 60,000 to 12 lakh beneficiaries to build houses directly through the bank. Transferred,” Banerjee said.
He said, “The Center had already surveyed about 36 lakh families. We also conducted a survey. A draft list was also published and verification of their claims and objections was also done. We have identified more than 28 lakh beneficiaries. Can identify.”
The Chief Minister alleged that the Center had not fulfilled its promises and had not given even a single penny for the ‘Awas Yojana’ for the last three years.
“The central government has deprived the poor people of the state of their dues for the last three years. We want our rights to be fulfilled, we are not beggars,” he said before handing over the acceptance letters to 42 beneficiaries from 21 districts.
He said that the state will have to bear a total expenditure of Rs 14,773 crore for this purpose.
“If the Center does not pay, we will pay the remaining 16 lakh families. Of these, we will pay eight lakh people in two installments by May-June and the remaining 8 lakh by December,” Banerjee said. Rs 24,000 crore is outstanding from the Center for this purpose.
