Noida:Noida district administration called a meeting elevator manufacturer And manufacturers will discuss maintenance rates on Friday lifts After implementation of UP Lift and Escalator Act2024.
Residents Complaints were made that since the Act mandates manufacturers to provide maintenance, lift manufacturers have increased their prices.
Officials said they would discuss the matter with lift manufacturers to find a ‘midway’ that would address residents’ concerns as well as cover the cost of maintenance of the lifts. Officials said they will also ask the agencies to submit the list of all lifts installed in the city and their locations. Additional district magistrate (ADM), finance and revenue, Atul Kumar said, “We will review the compliance of the Act and direct the agencies to register their lifts and follow the guidelines.”
“Though the administration cannot set any rates for maintenance agencies, we would urge them to keep the rates for housing societies at a minimum,” the ADM said. Residents have raised concerns over a provision in the Act that obliges lift manufacturers to maintain and repair the machines, saying it will lead to monopoly and runaway rates. “If lift manufacturers handle maintenance, it would mean better safety and use of original parts, but this monopoly could lead to exorbitant charges,” said Rajeev Singh of the Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Association. The annual maintenance contract of a lift costs between Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 depending on the type of lift.
