JP Wishtown The developer in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh has alleged in the petition that Jaypee Infratech Ltd., is carrying out major alterations in the township in violation of norms.
In a recent order, a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava took cognizance of the allegation that the township is located on the banks of Yamuna river, about 2 km from the river, within the Okhla Bird Sanctuary.
The bench, also comprising judicial member Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member A Senthil Vel, looked into the claims of a real estate businessman illegally felling trees and carrying out commercial construction in green areas.
“The original application (OA) raises a substantial issue relating to compliance with environmental norms. Issue notice to the respondents to file their reply by way of affidavit at least one week before the next date of hearing (November 23),” the tribunal said.
The respondents or parties in the case are the Centre, Noida Development Authority, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, state forest and environment department and the station house officer (SHO) of Noida Sector 126.
