Mysore, Mysuru Urban Development Authority ,turned) has started the transfer of 900 residential layout on the outskirts of town urban local body ,ULB), which brought relief to 38,224 site owners.
Muda administrator and deputy commissioner G Laxmikant Reddy is overseeing the change, which will help site owners get accounts pending for years.
During a recent meeting, G Lakshmikant Reddy announced the transfer of these layouts, which included 194 parks developed on 3,830 acres and eight guntas of land. These areas fall under the newly formed local bodies, which include Hutagali CMC, Bogadi Town Municipal Council, Kadakola, Srirampur, Rammanahalli town panchayats and 19 gram panchayat limits.
The initial phase involves the transfer of 200 fully developed residential layouts with complete infrastructure to the Hootagalli City Municipal Council on 8 November. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and District Minister HC Mahadevappa are expected to attend the meeting.
Muda plans to systematically transfer the remaining layout to local authorities. The first phase will benefit 15,085 site owners who can get accounts from their local bodies after the transfer process.
Despite local bodies having the authority to collect property taxes and maintain facilities, Muda had previously restricted their ability to issue accounts.
In July, Muda stopped issuing accounts for sites under local authorities, causing difficulty for developers, buyers and residents in obtaining loans and transferring properties. Residents faced challenges in securing loans against their properties for education, medical expenses and other needs due to the absence of account transfer documents.
Muda administrator Laxmikant Reddy told TOI that the transfer process will be transparent and systematic.
He directed the local bodies to conduct joint surveys and prepare a list of development works before the November 8 meeting, to ensure proper documentation for government grants.
Chamundeshwari MLA GT Deve Gowda supported the transfer, saying it would benefit residents in having access to Cauvery and Kabini drinking water, especially in areas like Bogadi Town Municipal Council where people depend on borewells. He stressed the importance of maintaining transparency in the entire process.
