Meghalaya ready for PMAY-G survey, targets housing for all by 2025

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad’s Sangam On Monday announced that the state is “ready for survey” for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural.PMAY-G,

The announcement follows the completion of mapping of surveyors in each village, who will serve as the primary contact to conduct the survey and update the Habitat+ 2018 list to include eligible households and villages that were previously left out.

The Housing Division of the Ministry of Rural Development has extended PMAY-G till 2028-29. An official statement said this MeghalayaHaving met all the previous targets, it will be one of the first states to launch the new survey. Since the launch of PMAY-G in 2016, Meghalaya has sanctioned 186,283 houses, meeting all targets under the 2018 Housing+ survey.

Official statements indicate that 113,158 houses (60.75%) have been completed, while others are in various construction stages. The state intends to complete all ongoing construction work by January 2025.

Through State Rural Employment Societies (SRES) operating under the C&RD department, Meghalaya has deployed 6,354 surveyors in 6,426 villages to update the Awaas+ database using revised exclusion criteria and eKYC face-based authentication.

Housing Mission is one of the five primary development objectives of Meghalaya. The official statement elaborated that the initiative aims to comprehensively address rural poverty by setting standards for rural housing and related services.

The Government of Meghalaya is using PMAY-G as its foundation to tackle various aspects of rural deprivation, working with other schemes to provide essential services including education, health care, clean water and sanitation.

The Chief Minister stressed the government’s dedication to achieving ‘Housing for All’ while addressing the issues of widespread poverty. He urged all stakeholders to ensure comprehensive survey coverage and called upon eligible families and potential PMA-G beneficiaries to prepare necessary documents and actively participate in the upcoming surveys.
