Addressing a virtual press conference, Shishir Baijal, CMD, Knight Frank India, said the growth in housing sales is driven by demand for premium housing costing more than Rs 1 crore.
“There are concerns in the affordable housing segment,” Baijal said, adding that availability and affordability challenges have led to a decline in sales in the category.
According to the report, housing sales have increased in all markets except Delhi-NCR, where sales have declined by 7 percent year-on-year.
Mumbai recorded the highest sales volume of 24,222 units, a new high for the market. Sales in Mumbai grew 9 percent year-on-year.
Among major markets, sales in Bengaluru grew the most at 11 per cent year-on-year with 14,604 units.
Housing sales in Pune rose 1 per cent to 13,200 units, while demand in Hyderabad rose 9 per cent to 9,114 units.
