Panaji: The state government on Thursday decided to extend their tenant verification Drive for an additional five days before starting home visit Identifying persons living in Goa Without proper tenant documentation, otherwise there will be consequences.
The initiative, which began on October 1, was scheduled to end on October 10. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Said that it is necessary to get the tenants verified because migrants are also involved in some cases of rape and murder.
The primary objective of this campaign is to act as a precautionary measure, enabling Goa Police To keep an eye on possible criminal activities. By verifying the credentials of tenants across the state, officials aim to ensure the safety of residents and visitors to Goa.
He said that after this Tenant Verification Bill After its passage in the Assembly, a massive tenant verification drive was carried out by the Goa Police. “Today was the last day (October 10) for tenant verification. Those who have not got their tenant verified should get it done quickly and voluntarily. If the police find that a person has not completed the tenant verification, a fine will be imposed on that person,” he said.
CM said that the police will cooperate during tenant verification for the next five days and some people are just spreading confusion that the police is demanding Rs 200 to complete the tenant verification process.
“If anyone has rented out their home, they should submit the documents of those persons and complete tenant verification. This campaign is in the interest of those who rent out their premises and those who live in those premises,” he said.
He said that it has been seen that people living on rent commit theft and sometimes even get involved in murder. “Crimes like murder and rape are committed by people living on rent and that is why precautionary measures have been taken,” Sawant said.
The Goa Tenant Verification Act covers people who are either living on rent or for other reasons. The focus is on enhancing the safety of citizens, preventing disturbance of peace and maintaining public order. This Act strengthens the process of collection and verification of tenants to obtain timely information from security perspective and related matters.
