New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K.Saxena Electricity distribution companies (discoms) have been directed to provide electricity to more than 11,000 pending electricity connection applicants in PM-Uday unauthorized coloniesRaj Niwas officials said on Tuesday. Officials said that it will be made available within a week to 10 days.
Saxena, who chaired the meeting of MCD Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner, Secretary (Power), Principal Commissioner (DDA) and CEOs of both the discoms, expressed serious objection to the red-tapism being faced by the agencies in providing electricity connections. He said that residents/applicants of unauthorized colonies in land pooling areas.
He stressed that there is no confusion left after the clarification issued by DDA on October 16 and directed both the discoms to provide the connections within the next week or 10 days. Officials said he also directed government agencies not to create any further confusion or obstruction in this regard.
PM-UDAY (Prime Minister – Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Housing Scheme) Scheme is for recognition/grant or transfer/mortgage of ownership to residents of 1,731 unauthorized colonies, benefiting approximately 40 lakh residents of Delhi.
The PM-UDAY scheme was launched by the Government of India in 2019 for residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi.
