Bengaluru: Fed up with the inaction of the local authorities on his appeal to fix potholes on the roads, Residents In many apartment complexes and villas Chambenahalli Villages near Sarjapur have appealed to their MP Dr CN Manjunath for immediate development of infrastructure in the southeast Bengaluru area.
In his letter to the Bengaluru Rural MP, he highlighted the poor condition of the roads, especially the road connecting Chambenahalli and Neriga, which deteriorates during rains, leading to accidents. He demanded reliable and regular power supply, citing daily fluctuations and inadequate grid capacity.
Residents also urged the BWSSB to address water scarcity and storm-drainage issues, as borewells have dried up and without the SWD, roads become a nightmare for commuters during rains due to flooding.
He called for better police patrolling and traffic management to curb the increasing incidents of robbery and street violence in the area. Furthermore, residents highlighted the need for white-roofed roads instead of asphalt roads, given the heavy vehicular movement in the area.
Vishnu Vardhan, a 24-year-old techie, said,Chambenahalli-Neriga Road Always bad. I have never seen this road in good condition. Recently, due to poor road conditions, I fell from my bike, causing a minor fracture in my leg. Glad nothing major happened.”
“We won’t get any autos here because who would want to go on broken roads?” the resident asked. The 1 km long Chambenahalli-Neriga road is part of Highway-35, which connects Sidalaghatta in Kolar and Anekal in Bengaluru Urban.
One of the many potholes on the road had become very wide and deep, so locals erected a long stick in the middle of it and hoisted a white cloth over it to warn motorists.
On police patrol, Rahul J, a 38-year-old techie, said, “For the last two years, we have seen several incidents of thieves breaking into homes, and this once happened in our apartment. So far, nothing dangerous has happened , But to keep our families and ourselves safe, we have requested police patrolling.”
According to him, a lot of apartments are being built in the area, and most of the residents travel to Whitefield and Varthur daily for work. “Therefore, now is the time for the authorities to give us proper infrastructure like roads because in the future, this road will not be sufficient as the population increases,” he said.
Chambenahalli falls under Yamare GP limits. Anil Choudhary, president of Seven Silver Oaks Apartment Welfare Association, said, “The panchayat had earlier said that the road is not under them but under the central government, but they had no documents for the same. Now they have concluded that it Comes under that.” The state government, however, keeps harping on the lack of funds to fix it.”
He further said, “So we approached MP Manjunath demanding funds, to which he responded positively. He told us that he will give some funds and will talk to the state government officials to completely repair the road. do.” We hope that this time we will at least get proper facilities.”
