Bandra Government Colony residents to get new housing solutions, ET RealEstate

Mumbai:Decision to provide housing to the people living in government colony Bandra (East) Taken in the cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Officials said a high-level committee headed by Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik will take decisions regarding the location, number of government employees and other procedures.

Chief Minister last year Eknath Shinde Instructed to submit a detailed plan for redevelopment.

The colony is built on 90 acres of government land and was constructed between 1958 and 1973. It has 4,782 flats for Class I to Class IV officers and employees of the state.

“Of these, 169 buildings are dangerous and 68 are extremely dangerous,” an official said. “The remaining 101 buildings will be vacated and employees will be given service accommodation through lottery.”

Construction work of 12 buildings is in progress. “Out of the 12 buildings, one will be given to Savitribai Phule government hostel,” the official said.

About 30 acres of land will be marked in the new colony. Bombay High Court ComplexOfficials said.

Last month, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud laid the foundation stone of the new High Court building complex. Out of 30 acres of land, 4.3 acres has already been handed over to the High Court.

Officials said the possession is being handed over in a phased manner.

“It will have world-class infrastructure, including well-designed and spacious court rooms, chambers for judges and registry personnel, an arbitration and mediation centre, an auditorium, a library, as well as numerous facilities for staff, lawyers and Facilities will be included and litigants,” an official said.

In the cabinet meeting, approval was given to name the subway and flyover on the Katraj-Kondhwa route of the National Highway in Pune after RSS Sarsanghchalak Balasaheb Deoras.

“This proposal was made by Pune Municipal Corporation on the request of Pune Medical Services and Research Foundation. It was requested to name this intersection and metro after Balasaheb Deoras. Accordingly, it was named after Balasaheb Deoras, the third Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The name was approved.” ,” an officer said.
