Vasco: A major decision is expected to provide relief to hundreds of residents of its associated complexes. Goa Housing Board But New VaddemThe Mormugao Municipal Council ,mmc) resolved to regularize 544 structures on Tuesday.
These structures were allocated to municipal employees. economically weaker section ,EWS) housing scheme and was approved on Tuesday, according to Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) records.
With this move, MMC becomes the first civic body in the state to take a decision on regularizing houses Goa Housing Board.
A special council meeting scheduled for the purpose was chaired by MMC president Girish Borkar and attended by transport minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho. A proposal related to regularization of Goa Housing Board houses was moved by Godinho. The council later agreed to approve the plan, according to MPDA records.
“We will see to it that the residents of Goa Housing Board premises get their property rights under the EWS Housing Scheme. This, in turn, will increase their standard of living and quality of life,” Godinho said.
Chief Officer of Mormugao Civic BodyDipesh Priyolkar said the municipality has decided to legalize the area as per the original allotted plan, which is about 18-19 square meters as per the EWS housing scheme.
“The Goa Housing Board can verify the legal ownership or rights of these houses which have been in possession for the last about four to five decades,” he said.
EWS Housing Scheme is a national scheme aimed at providing affordable housing options to the economically weaker sections of the society.
