Recording the plea, a division bench of Justice SS Sundar and N Senthilkumar directed all flat owners to hand over the keys of the houses to the builder by November 4 to start the redevelopment work.

According to the court-appointed committee, the court comprising former judges Justice KN Basha and Justice K Kannan inspected 321 flats, and the keys of 310 flats were already handed over to the builders.

Regarding allotment of additional space of undivided share, the bench said that the decision would be taken later and adjourned the hearing till November 4.

On March 12, the court directed Jain Housing and Construction Ltd to make “full disclosure” of its net worth and financial position to demonstrate that it has the resources to reconstruct three 17-storey apartments in Saligramam .

An expert committee of IIT-Madras found the apartment buildings unsafe to live in. Although the company agreed to demolish and reconstruct all three residential apartments, the Jain Westminster Owners Welfare Association petitioned the High Court to allow the builder to grant 106 units of rental housing to flat owners until the buildings are rebuilt or redeveloped.
