Goa Police to continue verification drive, prosecute unverified tenants, ET Real Estate


Panaji, Goa Police Saturday decided to launch a campaign on October 15 to prosecute landlords for unverified tenants. Goa Police verified the identities of more than 20,000 tenants and house helpers from October 1 to 9 to protect citizens. So far, they have verified the identities of 70,000 people.

Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar said that Goa Police is committed to taking all possible steps to provide a safe environment to Goans and tourists visiting the place in large numbers. “The cumulative figure from both the districts till October 9 this year is 70,000, of which 20,000 are between October 1 and 9,” Kumar said.

“We have seen cases where landlords have rented out their premises to foreigners and have not submitted the requisite information, and such foreigners have been arrested for illegal activities. We appeal to all citizens to complete the necessary formalities in respect of their tenants, whether Indian or foreign, and play their role in the security architecture of the state,” Kumar said.

Goa Tenant Verification Act This includes individuals who are either living on rent or for other reasons. This Act strengthens the process of collection and verification of tenants to obtain timely information from security perspective and related matters.

For this, long queues are being seen at different police stations. tenant verification Campaign launched by Goa Police on instructions of Chief Minister Pramod SawantSawant said that in most of the rape and murder cases it was found that migrants were involved.

Goa Police also launched a special drive to take action against foreign nationals who are staying in the state for a long time without proper documents. In the last three days they booked three foreign nationals.
