Maximum 765 applications were received for a flat in Oshiwara. This 32 square meter (344 sq ft) 1RK apartment is located on the 6th floor of Sandipani Shikshak (Shridham Splendor) building. The compact no-frills flat has two rooms – a small bedroom and a large hall with a kitchen platform at one end. A half room next to the hall can serve as a dining space. The bathroom-cum-toilet is fully fitted with western seating tiles.
“This house is ideal for a small family, like a young couple with a small child,” said an MHADA engineer. “The metro runs under the building, markets and schools are nearby.” This LIG (Low Income Group) flat is priced at a competitive Rs 60 lakh.
However, there was a 4 feet wide gap in the false ceiling through which a constant stream of water dripped into the hall, surprising even MHADA engineers as the apartment was opened 18 months after it was handed over by the developer. “The lottery winner will get possession after the necessary repair work is completed to ensure that the flat is in a fit condition to live in,” said an MHADA official.
Vikhroli’s flat was airy, spacious and well maintained. The price of this apartment of approximately 450 square feet is Rs 51 lakh. In Saket, Goregaon, a MHADA flat of similar size is priced at Rs 70 lakh.
