Recent audits revealed significant structural deterioration in Tower A, primarily due to high chloride content and severe corrosion caused by poor quality concrete – similar to issues found in other towers. Tower A has 64 flats, of which 60 are occupied.
With IIT-Delhi’s structural audit having already declared six other towers – D, E, F, G, H and J – unsafe, demolition of these buildings is expected to begin next month. The IIT then classified Towers A, B and C as safe, but warned of possible future collapse. In response, Chintels India initiated a new round of audits through CBRI to further assess the condition of all towers.
The CBRI report noted that almost all structural elements in Tower A were damaged due to corrosion and poor concrete quality, making the structure non-compliant with Indian safety standards, especially in seismic zone IV.
A spokesperson of the developer said, “Once Tower A is vacated, we will compensate the flat owners or allow them to opt for reconstruction. The audit report of Tower B, the last remaining tower, is expected in 10 days. “
